Beautiful long exposure capture at sunset along the shores of Lake Tekapo, New Zealand. The blue water is a product of the glacial particles and is stunning in the proper light.

Float
Dawn arrives along the shores of Lake Wanaka, New Zealand. The highly popular yet lonely Wanaka Tree is in frame. This tree is one of the iconic photographic gems of the south island of New Zealand and is sought after by professionals and tourists alike. There are no shortage of photographs of the lone tree, however, I wanted to approach the scene a bit different than most. I chose to compose this shot with the natural framing of the foliage a further from the water. The soft light of morning and the slow, quiet breeze made this morning a memorable one. Of course, the tree was the main event - unique and impactful in its own right.

Courage to Glow
This image was captured on a lightly traveled trail in the “Islands in the Sky” section of the massive Canyonlands National Park. The short, but brilliant trail takes you lower in altitude and puts you up close with the amazing desert scenery you see here. Unfortunately, due to the recurring vandalism to the trail's main attraction, it is now closed to the public. Timing is everything, and catching the fading golden light upon these great rock formations was the goal in setting up this panorama. The beautiful sunset that ensued was a nice little bonus. The ultra high resolution of this image allows for giant prints at stunning quality – sizes in excess of 90" in width.

Glacial Melt
Shot at the very end of the Tasermiut Fjord, in South Greenland where the water meets the ice sheet. We were told the glacier retreats around 45 meters per year on average. The glacial melts and runs underneath giant formations of the vibrant blue ice. At night, when sleeping near the glacier, you will hear large pieces falling off into the fjord water. It often sounds like dynamite as the ice avalanches down.

Conquest
In the Summer of 2017, I embarked on a two week backpacking trip to South Greenland - a once in a lifetime experience. The expedition led me to many beautiful sights, but I believe that this view may be the most impressive I have seen or photographed in my entire life. It is hard to interpret the scale of these mountains from the image itself, but the massive peaks in the distance rise some 6,000 feet almost straight up from the fjord below. Groups of icebergs floated freely as they travel from nearby glacier fields. It took many miles on foot before we reached the end of the valley seen here. Then, a zodiac boat chartered us to the base of yet another massive mountain. A long climb to set up camp high up on this rock giant and another hour or two to search for this ultimate vista ensued. It was a long day indeed for the five of us - the only humans for miles and miles.

Tasermiut's End
It was well worth the bushwhacking and strenuous hike to get to this viewpoint to capture this panorama. This image was captured near the end of the Tasermiut Fjord, where the water meets the glacier head. From thousands of feet up, I could see all around me, including the fading alpen glow on distant high peaks that are hidden from view at the base of this mountain.

Secret Sunset
This image was shot from Lake Tahoe’s eastern shore during a late Autumn sunset. During the summer, this secluded cove is a favorite destination for nude sun bathers. Later in the year however, it is much too cold for the scantily clad to bare their skin. This also means you can show up and watch the sunset without perhaps even seeing another soul. Simply serene. This scene is one of my personal favorites from around the popular alpine lake - one of Tahoe’s most beautiful gems. The small beach, aptly named Secret Cove, is littered with medium sized boulders and unbelievable leopard like sand patterns in the shallows. Tahoe’s clear water and smooth skies compliment the scene beautifully.

Tunnel Burn
I caught this amazing sunset from Yosemite's famous "Tunnel View" vista point during a spontaneos Winter visit. Like many of the sunsets I have captured, this one also seemed like it would turn out to be a dud. Fortunately, luck was on my side and I talked myself out of driving straight back to camp in favor of taking a chance. After just a few moments of waiting and setting up my equipment, the sky lit up vibrantly on all sides and the winds calmed. The combination of color and alpenglow came together beautifully to compliment one of Earth's most magnificent views.

Las Puertas del Cielo
Possibly the most heaven-like scene from my travels in South America. It may not seem so, but this sunrise did not start off particularly vibrant. I was ready to give up hope of seeing the giant "Los Cuernos" peaks under morning light. In true Patagonia fashion, the weather changed suddenly - if only for a minute or two. The wind blew a couple clearings in the clouds and in an instant, the peaks were once again obscured by the fog. This piece is appropriately titled "Las Puertas del Cielo" which translates to "The Pearly Gates" or "The Gates of Heaven" in English.

The Passing
Summer storms in Tahoe create some amazing conditions for photography. The amazing blue tones, dramatic skies and soft light came together nicely for this image. A long, open shutter smooths the water and allows a view below the surface of the alpine lake. Though perhaps not the most colorful sunset, there was something special about this one. Our family cat of 19 years passed away on this morning. I was in need of a nice distraction and ended up with a beautiful tribute.

Senja Splash
A beautiful golden hour takes over the Okshornan mountains in Senja. The iconic mountain range is most comonly known as the Devil's Jaw. I was lucky to spend many hours at this location, resulting in a collection of images reflecting three intensely different moods. This image was a risky one to capture. The violent waves would wash up well past where I was standing. Rather than run the risk of a rogue wave knocking me over and dragging my equipment with me out to sea, I chose to quickly get a few shots composed and recompose after each high set of waves subsided.

Milford Glow
Sunset fades over Mitre Peak in Milford Sound, New Zealand. The Māori name for Milford Sound is Piopiotahi, meaning one single piopio, which unfortunately is now an extinct bird in New Zealand. This shot was captured as water returns to the Sound as the tide rolls in. The water advances quite quick at sunset and in just minutes, the water depth can increase many inches in height, covering your ankles and forcing you further back to look for new compositions. This particular shot captures the glow of the fading light and the beautiful and typical foreground in Milford Sound: algae covered stones and small salt ponds. The long exposure used on this shot delivers silky smooth water, soft clouds and brilliant tones of color.

The Glimpse
The result of a cold two hours, barefoot in the water in Northern California's Garrapata State Park. I was lucky that I was less impatient on this day, because there didn't seem to be any hope for good light. I stayed however, and got to witness and incredible display of changing color and light. I managed to come away with two beautiful images that captured the essence of being alone on one of Califonia's most beautiful shorelines.

Luck played a huge role in getting this image. Though I have visited the Point Reyes cypress tunnel a number of times, many were during childhood. I knew the conditions necessary for getting this shot and for years I had imagined I'd be there to take it. On this morning, it was not looking entirely promising. The morning fog wasn't as low as I'd hoped and it did appear as if the skies were opening up. However I only had one night in the area and I was intent on at least giving it a try. Determination paid off and only about 30 minutes or so after the sunrise, the fog was thick and the light was just strong enough to light it up. This has to be one of my most dramatic images involving strong light.
The Welcoming
Perhaps my favorite of the many sunrises I experienced in South America happened only one day into my first trip to Patagonia. I set up shop in the dark along the shores of a small lake with beautiful views of the most iconic mountain range in Chile's Torres del Paine National Park. It was an extremely rare windless morning, as Patagonia is regarded as one of the windiest locations on Earth. The good luck continued with amazing reflections in the clear water and a burning, changing sky lasting well into golden hour. A long open shutter was used to capture the movement in the clouds and the brilliant color illuminating the landscape in the distance.

The Lone Cypress
I have spent a good amount of my life in the Monterey Peninsula, including a year in High School and frequent trips back since. The area holds many special memories for me and is incredibly beautiful. I captured this long exposure of 17-Mile Drive's iconc "Lone Cypress" during a beautiful sunset.
Sherbert Sea
One of the most fantastic sunrise scenes I have ever experienced. This shot was taken along the shore of Lofoten, Norway. The light pink and orange hues illuminating the mountains in the distance were some of the most beautiful morning tones one may ever see. It was a surreal moment. That morning will exist as one of those rare lifelong memories.
Stepping Stones
This is one of my favorite images from the shores of Lake Tahoe. This springtime sunset came together with the ultimate combination of stillness, perfect light and color in the sky.
