The water level in Tahoe has risen substantially in recent years. The 2016-2017 snow melt added an insane amount of water to the Tahoe Basin. As a result, the landscape has changed dramatically. Beaches are smaller, some even have been covered up completely. For a photographer, this is both good and bad. I viewed it as an opportunity to capture new perspectives at previously explored locations. This image is an example of that opportunity. I cannot recall seeing this tiny island in this form. I cannot recall if it was an island at all before the water levels rose. In any case, it is a wonderful scene from my hometown.
